Overarching Theme – Life in the Landscape

Over the centuries life in the landscape ebbs and flows following patterns of social, economic and cultural change. Not only the physical landscape changes but so do communities.  The long history of industrial use of the landscape in the CCLP area (via farming, coal and iron extraction and associated iron works to opencast mineral mining , forestry and now wind farms) has shaped communities heritage and their interaction with the landscape. The CCLP provides an opportunity to re invigorate life in the landscape based on the lessons of the past, life in the present and a vision of life in the future.

The potential to connect people to their heritage will be realised through both increased familiarity with the access infrastructure in the area and opportunities to learn, build skills,
explore and discover.

By engaging local communities and working with them on events celebrating their rich cultural and natural heritage we can ensure the value of the landscapes’ heritage is recognised. Through involvement we can encourage local communities, charities and agencies to work together to protect and promote this natural and historical wealth.
